Eighth-grade students will learn about vocabulary, literature, grammar, research, Internet usage, speech, and writing in their language arts classes. They will analyze novels in class and take comprehension tests to improve their reading skills. Their speeches and writings will be based on research and properly documented. The students will also have the opportunity to explore different genres of literature, such as poetry, short stories, and non-fiction texts.
In addition to these core areas, students will also develop their critical thinking and communication skills. They will learn how to effectively express their thoughts and ideas through writing and speaking, and how to analyze and evaluate different forms of literature.
The language arts curriculum will also incorporate the use of technology, as students will learn how to navigate the Internet for research purposes and how to properly cite sources in their writing.
By the end of this course, students will have a strong foundation in language arts and will be well-prepared for the challenges of high school. They will have developed a deep appreciation for literature and the skills necessary to effectively communicate and express themselves in both written and spoken forms.
